Does your wardrobe work hard for you?? If not, fear not - there are some neat tricks to getting more out of everything you have put in your closet...Of course, this seems easier if your wardrobe has some complementary base colours and some good basics (camis, a trench, neutral flats and heels etc). Whether you do or you don't, making your wardrobe work harder for you has more to do with seeing past the individual garments to what 'could be' in terms of outfits. The more you look and flex your imagination, the more inspiration you may discover...
I find this easiest to manage by considering the versatility of individual pieces in the context of the rest of my wardrobe. Meaning I pull and item, and consider its compatibility alongside as many items as I can. If the key item I am looking at is a basic / relatively plain, I can pair it with other plain items or more statement interesting pieces to create multiple looks that reflect my style.
So this post will focus on an amazingly soft thrifted cashmere jumper, originally from M&S, which is potentially much more versatile than it may at first appear. It has become a major staple for me and makes even the most casual outfit more luxurious (not to mention warmer - a must in Yorkshire!)

It "works hard" as it is both luxe and a basic, on account of its fabulous texture and gorgeous neutral colour.
It can be worn with jeans and pumps for casual day wear, as in this shot where I paired it with pale pink Next jeans and Primark textured pumps. Equally, I can pair it with darker jeans and layer a cream cardigan for cooler casual evenings out (see below).
I have ordered the shots from most casual to most dressy in my opinion. Most of the paired items are thrifted or been in my wardrobe an age.

I hope this has whet your appetite to have a go! Of course, a blouse could be added beneath this jumper, it could be worn with black or other trousers - the possibilities really are endless...
Please comment your successes and (hopefully not) messes down below!
