The fable of the style twin

If this happens to you, you are one very lucky thrift shopper!

Sometimes if I haven't got long for thrifting and I can't afford a drawn out browsing session, I will hone in on my size when shopping. If you are very, very lucky, occasionally you will suddenly find a piece you love, and then another, and then another and (God help me) then another. When this occurs, sometimes there are several similar items - say, in different colours and all the same style or brand and all in the same size. I have on occasion found that I loved an item so much that I have gone back to a shop to get another in a different colour. Surely, other people do this too?! Naturally, on discovering these items all together on a charity shop rack, I immediately jump to thinking of the identity of the donor; is it one individual with similar taste who has given these items to the shop. I like to think of these rare occasions as a style twin, a doppelganger, having donated the whole pile of 'me' clothing, and silently send out a little mental note thank you. If this happens to you, you have been truly blessed. Enjoy it when it happens because the next time might be a while away!
